Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test pipes, fittings, and fixtures per codes.
• Identify plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs per work orders.
• Locate positions for connections and fixtures.
• Install/repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures and equipment; install supports.
• Read blueprints and specifications for system layout.
• Plan, install and service plumbing systems and test for leaks.
• Receive and complete work orders.
• Estimate material and labor and prepare time estimates.
• Keep accurate records of material and labor used.
• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Inspect completed work and ensure area is clean.
• Coordinate with supervisors to complete projects.

Plumbers are responsible for cutting, gluing, welding, and other installation means and methods for piping, fixtures, and other plumbing systems. Ensure quality control is applied & implemented for the operation of all plumbing systems. Travel is required.

Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (LIST IS NOT INCLUSIVE)

• Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
• Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
• Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures.
• Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc.; install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures, and equipment.
• Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems.
• Plan, install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls, test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.
• Receive and complete work orders.
• Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
• Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
• Work with supervisors to complete projects.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Learn quickly and adapt to a variety of technology, tools, instructions, and task methods.
• Meet deadlines in terms of work assignment schedules.
• Interact daily in person with other members of the department and school district staff and possess comfortable interpersonal skills and cooperative attitudes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• OSHA 30 Certification required.
• 5 plus years of experience is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Required to stand, walk, and sit.
• Talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.
• Use hand (s) and fingers to handle or feel objects or controls.
• Reach with hand (s) and arm (s).
• Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds.
