Job summary

You will read and interpret specs, cut openings, thread pipe, bend sections, and install valves while ensuring proper alignment and leak-free systems.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Studies spec and drawings to determine work aids and sequence of installations.
• Inspects structure to identify obstructions to avoid weakening during pipe installation.
• Locates and marks positions of pipe and connections in walls and floors.
• Cuts openings in walls and floors to fit pipes and fittings.
• Cuts and threads pipe using cutters, torch, and threading machine.
• Bends pipe using bending machine or by hand over a block.
• Assembles and installs valves and pipes of metal and nonmetals.
• Joins pipes with screws, bolts, fittings, solder, or caulk joints.
• Tests system by filling with water or air and checking for leaks.
• Performs other welding or plumbing tasks as required.

Job Summary

Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, to specifications and plumbing spec.

Responsibilities

• Studies spec and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
• Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
• Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors
• Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools.
• Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine.
• Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
• Assembles and installs valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools and power tools.
• Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.
• Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
• Installs and repairs plumbing as required per build.
• May weld holding fixtures to steel structural members.
• Performs other work as assigned.

Requirements

• Must possess a HS Diploma, GED or equivalent
