Job summary

Central Office - BOE is seeking a Plumber I to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of water and waste disposal systems under the Maintenance Supervisor. This is a permanent, 12-month position in Henderson, NC.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination, and a valid North Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record. Candidates must follow safety precautions and work well with staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards associated with the job.

Responsibilities

  • Measures, cuts, threads, assembles and installs pipes and tubing.
  • Eliminates leaks by replacing valves or faulty fittings or sections in line.
  • Installation/Replacement of plumbing fixtures (toilets, water coolers, water heaters, faucets).
  • Drain maintenance and unclogging drains.
  • Repairs to irrigation systems.
  • Prepare work orders.
  • Assist other trades when needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under general supervision, performs a variety of general custodial and light groundskeeping work in the care and maintenance of assigned school buildings and facilities. Work involves sweeping, mopping and using vacuum cleaners to clean floors; washing walls, woodwork and fixtures; and policing buildings to empty trash receptacles and pick up debris, etc. Employee is also responsible for requisitioning necessary cleaning supplies. Reports to the Principal.

Terms of Employment: Permanent, 12 Month Position

Nature of Work

Under limited supervision, responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of water and waste disposal systems. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications and Licensure

  • High school diploma or equivalents, and
  • 5 years job experience related to nature of work, and or
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
  • Must maintain a safe driving record
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards associated with job

Duties and Responsibilities

Physical Requirements (if applicable)

  • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders, scaffolding, and/or in tight spaces
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment
  • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects

Special Requirements (if applicable)

  • Ability to use and care for tools and equipment
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with building staff and associates
