Job summary

Air Education and Training Command, Department of the Air Force, seeks a Plumbing Systems Technician to install, modify, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including sewage, water, and gas distribution, as well as fire sprinkler and water closet installations.

You will read and apply building plans and codes, interpret blueprints, perform tests and troubleshoot backflow devices, and follow safety procedures to keep a clean, safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains a variety of new and existing plumbing systems and equipment including sewage, water, oil, gas distribution systems, water closets, tubs, backflow prevention devices/assemblies, fire sprinkler systems, and showers.
• Plans and accomplishes work from initial layout to final assembly by interpreting building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides/codes, and using shop mathematics.
• Troubleshoots/tests plumbing systems and equipment including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers, and other cross connection devices.
• Uses and maintains tools such as tapes, rules, plumb bobs, hand and power pipe threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, angle drills, hacksaws and power saws, power sewer cleaning equipment, gas detectors and meters, and lead pots.
• Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
