Job summary

Kootenai Health is seeking a skilled Hospital Facilities Technician focused on plumbing, steam, gas and drainage systems. The role involves repairs, inspections and installations in accordance with codes and safety regulations, supporting reliable facility operations.

Responsibilities include maintenance across plumbing, carpentry, electrical tasks, reading blueprints and schematics, and ensuring safety and compliance for a wide range of equipment and systems.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited training school in plumbing required.
  • Must be able to read blue prints, equipment schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Certification or licensure in plumbing required within 90 days of hire.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

Job description

  • Department Facilities - Facility Engineering

  • Performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical, or vehicle servicing
  • Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications :

  • Graduate of an accredited training school in plumbing required
  • Must be able to read blue prints, equipment schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Certification or licensure in plumbing required within 90 days of hire

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
  • Typical equipment used in a clinical job
  • Work in confined spaces for short periods of time
  • Exposure to electrical/ mechanical harm, i.e faulty equipment
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, acids, cleaning solution, disinfectants, soaps, etc.
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
  • Must be able to climb stairs or ladders
  • Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
