Job summary

Nutanix in Puerto Rico seeks a seasoned engineering supervisor to lead the Product Line Support (PLS) engineering team. You will oversee daily activities, develop new or improved products and processes, assess feasibility of tests and equipment, and align yearly plans with Division Engineering and LP operations.

The role requires strong leadership, bilingual English/Spanish, and experience in design procedures, cost-out efforts, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure project

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
• Master degree in Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in similar positions.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the day to day activities of the PLS engineering team (Lead Engineers, Master Designers, Supervisors).
• Reports status on PLS team assignments and metrics, prioritizing engineering requests and projects across cross-functional teams.
• Supports engineering aspects of cost-out activities and ensures proper design procedures.
• Contributes to project success by resolving design issues and coordinating with other units.
• Reviews project documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Provides technical soundness of design decisions to facilitate manufacturing and quality improvements.
• Manages Product Data Management (PDM) processes and lab activities.
• Coordinates with departments to maximize use of information and resources.

What you’ll do:

Supervises the daily activities and assignments of the Product Line Support (PLS) engineering team. Performs complex engineering relate assignments often requiring development of new or improved products/process/techniques . Assess feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering test/products/equipment. Develop yearly strategic plans aligned with Division Engineering and LP operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervises the day to day activities of the PLS engineering team (Lead Engineers, Master Designers, Supervisors).


• Reports status on PLS team assignments and metrics, prioritizing engineering request, projects and engineering to various cross functional teams based on Business needs.


• Supports the engineering aspects of cost out activities.


• Ensures the proper design procedures and processes of the engineering team.


• Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflict design requirements.


• Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in project completion.


• Review project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy and compliance to Regulatory Agencies.


• Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design/ product improvement.


• Provide technical soundness of design decisions and product changes to facilitate manufacturing, reduce costs, substitute material, improve quality and accommodate special customer needs.


• Prevent and correct manufacturing issues that affect product function ability or impact design intend.


• Certification process coordinator.


• Support to existent manufacturing process, collaborate with cross functional team in the design of new manufacturing process.


• Keep quality specification and design intend of existent products.


• Laboratory test according to the product.


• Control and maintenance of deviation system and CO process (Enovia).


• Responsible for Product Data Management (PDM) process.


• Responsible of project development for products improvement.


• Coordinate with other departments to maximize the use of information, skills and resources.


• Work with manufacturing plants on plans, processes and strategies to accomplish a trouble free introduction of products into manufacturing.


• Request capital as needed in projects


• Support PROLaunch on new product development and product line transfer as needed.


• Comply with EQMS, Lean and Pro-Launch procedures and policies


• Support VAVE activities for cost out


• Manage MET laboratory, build prototypes and evaluate samples of products under development and/or UL VN evaluation.


• Manage MET Lab daily accountability as well as capital expending for Lab projects.


• Support plant CI initiatives, actively participation on Gembas, LPA, OpA,


• Team representation at the Site Leadership Meeting


• Support LP plant Hi5

Qualifications:

• Education level required
  Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering ; Master Degree Preferible


• Years and area of experience required
  Minimum of 5 years at similar positions


• Technical knowledge
  Fully Bilingual (English/Spanish); MS office, Familiarity with ProE tools, Solid Works, AS400, drawing interpretation, SPC, Lean/Design Six Sigma, ISO9000, project management
