Role Description

The Phlebotomist – Part Time role at CharlestonMD is an on-site position located in the Charleston, South Carolina Metropolitan Area. In this role, the phlebotomist will perform routine and specialized blood collection procedures, including venipuncture and urine sample collection. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing collection equipment, verifying patient identity, labeling and processing specimens, and coordinating with clinical and laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate lab results. The phlebotomist will interact directly with patients to provide clear explanations of procedures, support comfort and safety, and maintain detailed documentation in medical records. This position contributes to the overall patient experience by supporting the practice’s whole-health approach and ensuring high-quality specimen collection and handling.

Qualifications

• Strong blood collection skills, including venipuncture and capillary techniques, with the ability to follow best practices for specimen handling.
• Solid laboratory skills, including basic specimen processing, labeling, and adherence to safety and infection control protocols.
• Experience with medical assisting tasks, such as preparing patients for procedures and supporting clinical workflows.
• Relevant certification in phlebotomy or medical assisting preferred; completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program is highly beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, and reliability in following established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support a diverse patient population in a respectful, patient-centered manner.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinicians and support staff in an on-site, team-based environment.
