Job summary

Hoya is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and programming/maintaining PLCs and HMIs.

• Experience programming/troubleshooting/maintaining PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi or equivalent).
• Knowledge of HMIs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and control systems.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and CMMS.

Responsibilities

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensures proper operation of equipment by performing scheduled preventative maintenance.
2. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
3. Program, modify, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and automated control systems.
4. Monitors and completes all required maintenance tasks within a specified timeframe.
5. Conduct machine calibrations, tooling changes, equipment setup, and process adjustments.
6. Manages the repair and calibration of key tools and measurement devices inclusive of general calibration.
7. Keeps inventory by entering in part information into the CMMS
8. Install, test, and commission new equipment and automation systems.
9. Maintains control and traceability related to tooling inside the shop and outside vendors.
10. Communicates to production to leads or supervisor machine updates and machine status and timeframe for repairs.
11. Actively participates in building a collaborative and productive team environment
12. Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and downtime reduction initiatives.
13. Contacts vendors for support with machine repairs and diagnostics.
14. Performs installation of all types of optical equipment and works with engineers as needed.
15. Interprets engineering schematics and procedures used during machine diagnostics
16. Supports the operational environment by maintaining an OSHA safety standard, there
17. Assists with building maintenance as needed
18. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
19. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Experience

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Automation, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, automated production, or laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated equipment.
• Experience programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC systems such as Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of HMI systems, VFDs, motors, sensors, servo drives, and industrial control systems.
• Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Proficiency using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment that may require standing, bending, climbing, and reaching for extended periods.
• Forklift and scissor lift operations licensed and able to perform safely-preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• PLC programming and automation certifications.
• Experience with machine calibration, tooling changes, and equipment setup.
• Knowledge of robotic systems, vision systems, and industrial networking.
• Experience supporting lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma initiatives.
• Welding, fabrication, and machining experience.
• Familiarity with FDA, ISO, GMP, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience installing, commissioning, and validating new manufacturing equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of PLC programming, troubleshooting, and control systems, including Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or comparable platforms.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, drives, sensors, relays, and industrial automation equipment.
• Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.
• Knowledge of machine calibration, tooling changes, equipment setup, and production changeovers.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and OSHA regulations.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, continuous improvement methodologies, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, technical manuals, and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and maintained documentation practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostics skills for automated production equipment and manufacturing systems.
• Proficiency in PLC programming, debugging, and system modifications.
• Skilled in the use of electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.
• Ability to perform machine repairs, component replacement, calibration, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement long‑term corrective actions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management software.
