Job summary

YER USA is seeking an experienced PLC Programmer/Service Engineer to commission, service, and program packaging machinery across the US, Canada, and Mexico. The role requires extensive travel (~75%), and on-site support from Acworth, GA base.

Candidates should have strong PLC programming skills with Allen Bradley and FANUC, plus the ability to train customers and assist in R&D. Ideal candidates have a technical education in mechatronics or controls and at least two years of programming PLCs,

Qualifications

• Mechatronics/controls background or related technical education.
• Minimum two years programming Allen Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 5000, SLC, PLC-500) and FANUC.
• Operational knowledge of Allen Bradley electrical components and motion control.
• Ability to write and comprehend PLC ladder logic.
• Ability to write basic PICKUP/DROPOFF pallets with FANUC.
• Understanding of electrical systems and schematics; troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and customer-facing professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Power-up, I/O checkout, commissioning and debugging of machinery.
• Train customer personnel on machinery operation.
• Phone support for troubleshooting with customers (Acworth, GA base).
• Product concept and film testing for potential new customers.
• Write PLC programs for machines assembled in the US.
• Participate in R&D for machinery development.
• Travel for service; assist customers with new methods and issues.
• Daily reporting to project manager via checklists, photos, and videos.

Job description

On behalf of one of our international clients, a family-owned and operated end-of-line packaging machinery company with headquarters in Germany, YER USA is currently searching for an experienced PLC Programmer/Service Engineer with the ability to travel extensively (~75%).

The candidate will be given the opportunity to commission and service packaging machinery in the U.S. (primarily), Canada, and Mexico as well as to help program assembled machinery. Additionally, the PLC Programmer will help program machines assembled in the US and participate in some research and development. Our client is looking for sharp, capable, and energetic team members to help them grow their business and maintain their status as market leader.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Handling the power-up, I/O check-out, commissioning and de-bugging of machinery drop-shipped from Europe to our customers’ plants
• Training Customer personnel on machinery
• Phone support for troubleshooting with customers (based out of office in Acworth, GA)
• Product concept and film testing in facility for potential new customers
• Writing PLC programs (based off standard code) for machines assembled in the US
• Participate in research and development for machinery
• Service travel, helping customers to implement new methodologies or troubleshooting issues.
• Daily report to project manager and manager through checklists, reports, photos and videos.

Candidate Profile

• Some college or technical school experience in a related field (mechatronics; controls engineering; automation, etc.)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs (RS Logix 5000, SLC & PLC 500) and FANUC
• Working knowledge of Allen Bradley electrical components and motion control (VFDs Powerflex525/Servo Kinetix)
• Ability to at least write and comprehend PLC ladder logic (please do not apply if you cannot write basic PLC code).
• Ability to at least write a pickup and drop off standard palletizer with FANUC
• General working knowledge of electrical systems and schematics
• Ability to troubleshoot automated equipment (PLC program; find source of issue; fix issue)
• Ability to handle basic mechanical tools
• Good communicator with professional demeanor; sole MSK representative interfacing with customers when on-site
