Oatey is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the industrial maintenance and engineering teams on the production floor of a 24-hour operation in Cleveland, OH. The role applies skills from an engineering/technology degree program to keep production equipment running reliably.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, guiding floor maintenance, and coordinating with plant leadership to prioritize safety and uptime. Associates degree required with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years as an industrial maintenance technician or related training program.
• Deep knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Willingness to complete Haz Mat refresher and follow Lock Out Tag Out procedures.

Position Summary

This position supports the industrial maintenance and engineering teams on the respective shift on the production floor. The engineering technician applies skills learned on job as an industrial maintenance technician role and knowledge learned in engineering / technology degree program to ensure production equipment is kept up and running.

Position Responsibilities

• This position includes and expands on the job requirements of the Industrial Maintenance Technician II role.
• In addition, the Engineering Technician will provide tactical and strategic guidance on the floor and support equipment uptime and maintenance through effective diagnostic trouble shooting and maintenance intervention.
• Consult regularly with engineering, maintenance and production plant leadership to ensure effective focus of shift maintenance team on safety and production.

Knowledge and Experience

• Ability to use computer based diagnostic programs such as PLC viewers, encoder setups, hydraulic systems tuning, etc.
• Excellent hands-on skills as evidenced by a minimum of 3-5 years as a professional industrial maintenance technician and / or evidence of successful completion of a recognized training program covering multiple skilled manufacturing disciplines.
• Industrial Maintenance knowledge and skills including but not limited to:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of various equipment (drills, saws, hand tools, electronics, welder, torch, etc.) and a variety of maintenance equipment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative in the problem solving process.
  • Ability to keep track of multiple maintenance requests in fast paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete the 24-hour Haz Mat training refresher course provided by the company and adhere to appropriate procedures.
  • Understand, comprehend and comply with the Lock Out Tag Out procedures with all equipment
  • Understand, comprehend and comply with all safety programs and policies
  • Demonstrates in-depth understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, Digital Electronics, PLC trouble shooting, and applies knowledge and principles to troubleshoot
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and supportive to meet changing work demands.
  • Strong communication and a service mentality as evidenced in providing frequent and actionable updates/status of equipment.
  • Basic math, reading and writing skills.

  • Verifiable successful work experience as an industrial maintenance technician supporting a high volume, 24 hour manufacturing operation
  • Ability to map out and communicate the troubleshooting process
  • Ability to use basic pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical controls to repair machinery and/or implement new machinery
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible in their work assignments/schedules and supportive to meet changing work demands Eager to learn new processes, systems and equipment and willing to invest resources in their own vocational development.

Education and Certification

2 Year Associates Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering

Compensation Range for the Position:

$22.42 - $28.59 - $34.75 USD

Target Cash Profit Sharing for the Position:

5.00%

Offer amount determined by experience and review of internal talent.
