Job summary

JM Pet Resort and Veterinary Clinic is hiring a PLAYtrain Daycare Attendant to provide dogs with mental and physical stimulation, confidence-building, and socialization in a structured setting. You will use our PLAYtrain methodology to meet each dog's needs and promote a harmonious relationship between pets and their people.

The role is full-time with open availability including rotating weekend days and holidays, requiring strong canine handling skills and a passion for animal welfare.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Pet industry experience is strongly preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in a dog daycare/dog handling preferred.
• Ability to read and promote positive canine play.
• Knowledge of positive command reinforcement and behavioral exercises for puppies.
• Comfortable interacting with all dog breeds, large and small.
• Passionate about animal welfare; treats all animals with compassion and kindness.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and monitor groups of dogs of all sizes.
• Identifies dogs by name for all active clients and understands canine body language.
• Follows safe leash control practices.
• Provides positive command reinforcement and supports students in group classes.
• Works with puppies on behavioral development exercises.
• Follows daily checklists and ensures timely placement in group assignments.
• Maintains clean and safe areas for dogs.
• Assists with evacuation of all animals if an emergency occurs.

Job Summary

The PLAYtrain ® Daycare Attendant actively employs our methodology, providing dogs with mental and physical stimulation, confidence-building, socialization tools and motivational training in a safe environment where dogs can learn to be their best selves. PLAYtrain ® Daycare Attendants work in a fun, structured environment meeting each individual dog's needs to encourage positive skill sets while working towards a goal of enhancing and supporting a harmonious relationship between pets and their people.

• This is a full-time position with open availability including rotating weekend days and holidays.
• Supervises and constantly monitor groups of dogs of all sizes
• Identifies dogs by name for all active clients, understands and identifies universal canine body language an recognizable dog behavior
• Understands and consistently demonstrates proper leash control
• Follows safe practices and procedures when introducing dogs
• Provides positive command reinforcement, supporting students who are also in group classes
• Works with puppies on behavioral development exercises
• Follows all handling guidelines to safely navigate dogs throughout the facility
• Follows the color-coded caution system describing employee restrictions and permissions for dog handlin
• Follows daily checklists including reading emails and calendars, gathering supplies, printing lists, and on-time placement in group assignments
• Maintains safe clean areas for dogs including sanitizing play yards
• Assists with evacuation of all animals if an emergency occurs

Physical Demands

• Position requires a person to be both indoors and outdoors regardless of the weather
• Majority of the day is spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds with assist
• Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs
• Must be able to work around pet hair and dander
• Must be able to climb 2 flights of stairs multiple times per day
