Job summary

Perrysburg Exempted Village School District is seeking a part-time Playground Monitor for Frank Elementary. The role runs Monday through Friday, 3 hours daily from 10:40 to 1:40, with a starting date of Jan 5, 2027. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Principal.

Prior to employment, a Student Monitor License through the Ohio Department of Education is required. Hourly pay is $16.55, with 183 days per year.

• High School diploma and a clear criminal record (BCII and FBI).

Responsibilities

• Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students during playground/recess.
• Intervenes in potential conflicts to minimize disruptions or injuries.
• Supervise by moving to be with children to ensure coverage of the playground.
• Reports incidents to appropriate personnel and assists with follow up as directed.
• Understands and uses district crisis plan to respond to emergencies.
• Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety and reports concerns to an administrator.
• Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
• Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
• Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities.
• Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
• Must obtain a Student Monitor License through Ohio Department of Education

JOB DESCRIPTION

Good health, high moral character and good attendance record. Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to ald all students

Job Objectives:

Monitors students during the time they are on the playground, (or indoorsif weather does not permit outdoor recess) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.

Essential Functions:

1. Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students during thetime that students are in the playground or at recess.
2. Intervenes in potential conflicts for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of school activities and or injury to involved parties.
3. Supervise by movement to be with children to assure coverage of playground.
4. Reports incidents to the appropriate personnel and assist with follow up as directed.
5. Understands and uses district crisis plan protocol to respond to emergencies.
6. Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Watches for student behavior thatmay indicate a problem. Report concerns to an administrator.
7. Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
8. Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
9. Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
10. Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.
11. Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
12. Conduct other duties related to the monitor's position as assigned by the Principal.
13. Must obtain a Student Monitor License through Ohio Department of Education

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCll and FBI Self-directed and able to learn quickly Ability to manage students in a fast-paced environment Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities required:

Knowledge of Basic math Ability to read and follow instructions Ability to understand written and oral instructions. Possess knowledge of security and emergency procedures. Ability to schedule activities, and collate data. Ability to work with others, solve problems and work as part of a team. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.

Additional Working Conditions:

Duties may entail occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, Duties may require bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching and standing. Duties may require occasional interaction among unruly children. Duties may require the ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
