Job summary

SEYLAR is seeking a part-time Playground Supervisor for Seylar Elementary in the United States. The role supports safe play, organizes activities, and ensures proper equipment use during recess. The position is non-exempt, 10-months, and starts ASAP as per school needs.

Required education is a High School Diploma, with board-acceptable alternatives. Pre-employment clearances (Act 34, Act 151, Act 114) and health forms must be completed.

Responsibilities

• Reports incidents to staff as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Principal/Asst. Principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-Time non-bargaining unit position; 10-Month work year/student days plus in-service only; Non-Exempt.

ANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAP

LOCATION: SeylarElementary

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: Through meaningful playground leadership, to enable students to enjoy group interaction and physical exercise which are integral parts of the district educational program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises students at playtime and maintains a positive, harmonious and safe atmosphere on the playground or inside recess location.
• Organizes group games and activities.
• Instructs students on the proper and safe use of playground equipment.
• Oversees the proper storage of playground equipment.
• Directs movement of groups of students to and from the play area(s).
• Attends in-service training programs as appropriate.
• Informs any attending teacher, or administrator, in the event of any argument involving students; any incident involving physical confrontation; and any incident that appears to be of more than momentary disruption.
• Any other duties or responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Principal or Assistant Principal.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUISITE SKILLS:

• Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.

HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 75 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

VERY HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
