Job summary

Burning Man's Department of Public Works seeks a Playa Restoration MOOP Scribe to document MOOP data during daily Line Sweep operations in Black Rock City. You will use GPS and iPad to record progress, hotspots, and environmental conditions, contributing to the Playa Restoration MOOP Map and restoration efforts.

This temporary, full-time, non-exempt on-site role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working in extreme conditions, and effective communication within a field team.

Qualifications

• Experience documenting field observations and MOOP data.
• Ability to work in extreme conditions and remote locations.
• Familiarity with Burning Man culture and 10 Principles.
• Proficient with GPS and digital data collection tools.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to safety.

Responsibilities

• Observe and record crew progress, MOOP findings, and field conditions using GPS tech.
• Transcribe and color-code field observations for MOOP map.
• Communicate MOOP findings and concerns with Line Boss and Oscillator.
• Attend daily MOOP Map Meeting with Environmental Restoration Manager.
• Maintain field data and equipment for daily operations.
• Support LNT and waste disposal planning.
