Harris County’s Development Services & Permits Division seeks a skilled planner to review subdivision plats, coordinate recordation, and advise on platting matters. The role supports engineers, developers, and staff to ensure compliance with local regulations while promoting safe, orderly growth.
Full-time position with the Office of the County Engineer; strong communication, reading plans, and proficiency with MS Office are essential.

In 2023, the division issued more than 57,000 permits with a construction value of $11.15B. In addition, the division conducted more than 41,000 inspections and nearly 85,000 plan reviews. Full-Time | Regular | 40 hours per week.
Subject to early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays at times, depending upon the project or workload.
Commensurate with experience, based on 26 pay periods.
Most assignments will be performed in an office, meeting room, or operations command center environment, but some fieldwork may be required. May be required to work extended work hours during activation of disaster recovery operations for an unspecified length of time (varies based on the extent of the event). This position requires bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs., as well as frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and ascending/descending stairs.
