Job summary

Rapid IT, Inc. is seeking a Platform Integration Engineer for a contract, long-term engagement. The role is 100% remote, with onsite interview options in the United States at the candidate's expense, in Vienna, VA or Pensacola, FL or San Diego, CA.

You will support enterprise messaging and event-driven platforms, lead Kafka deployments across Dev/QA/Prod, and ensure HA/DR with secure configurations. Strong Kubernetes/OpenShift and CI/CD skills are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting enterprise messaging and event-driven platforms.
• 3+ years hands-on administration with Confluent Kafka.
• Experience managing multi-environment Kafka deployments.
• Knowledge of cluster sizing, partitioning, replication, and capacity planning.
• Troubleshooting producer, consumer, broker, and cluster issues.
• Proficiency with Control Center, Schema Registry, Connect, ksqlDB, and streaming tech.
• Experience HA/DR and multi-cluster replication strategies.
• Kafka security: TLS, MTLS, RBAC, ACLs, encryption, auth.
• Kafka integration with Kubernetes/OpenShift, cloud, observability, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Implement high availability, disaster recovery, and multi-cluster replication for Kafka deployments.
• Troubleshoot end-to-end messaging issues across environments.
• Integrate Kafka with Kubernetes/OpenShift and cloud platforms.
• Operate and tune Confluent components (Control Center, Schema Registry, Connect, ksqliDB).
• Collaborate on data contracts and enterprise integration patterns.

Duration: Contract, long term expected

Requirements:

5+ years supporting enterprise messaging and event-driven platforms.

3+ years hands-on administration experience with Confluent Kafka.

Experience managing multi-environment Kafka deployments (Development, QA, Performance, DR, and Production).

Knowledge of Kafka cluster sizing, broker management, partition strategy, replication, retention policies, and capacity planning.

Experience troubleshooting producer, consumer, broker, and cluster-level issues.

Proficiency with Confluent Control Center, Schema Registry, Connect, ksqlDB, and stream processing technologies.

Experience implementing high availability, disaster recovery, and multi-cluster replication strategies.

Hands-on experience with Kafka security including TLS, MTLS, RBAC, ACLs, encryption, and authentication mechanisms.

Strong knowledge of integrating Kafka with Kubernetes/OpenShift, cloud environments, observability tools, and CI/CD pipelines.

Understanding of event-driven architecture, data contracts, and enterprise integration patterns.

Preferred: Confluent certifications.
