Job summary

Atom Computing is seeking a Platform Engineer to build and operate the systems powering our quantum computing software and research workflows. The role focuses on infrastructure for on-prem lab environments and cloud platforms, with a bias toward reliability and automation.

You will collaborate with software, hardware, and control-systems teams and work in our Boulder, CO office at least three days per week to ensure tight coordination and rapid iteration on compute environments and tools.

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Internship or work experience as infrastructure/platform/systems engineer.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).
• Interest in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with hybrid environments (on-prem Proxmox and cloud providers AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Knowledge of networking and Linux fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure supporting quantum control systems including GPU compute, networking, and storage.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code, deployment automation, and system observability mechanisms.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive incident response, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
• Participate in designs related to developer tools and compute infrastructure.
