Job summary
Defense Unicorns seeks a Platform Engineer to join the Navy Delivery team, bridging application development and platform operations. You will package, secure, deploy, and operate software on the Unicorn Delivery Service (UDS) and Kubernetes environments, aligning DevOps with security and reliability.
The role emphasizes IaC, Helm configurations, GitOps, and cross-team collaboration, with hands-on work across React, .NET, Python, and fast APIs.
Qualifications
- Professional experience deploying production applications or platform environments.
- Hands-on with cloud-native tech, containers, CI/CD, IaC, or Kubernetes.
- Strong Linux/Unix skills; troubleshoot across layers.
- Experience with YAML-based config: Kubernetes manifests, Helm, CRDs, CI/CD.
- Familiarity with security practices related to apps, APIs, containers, cloud infra.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to unfamiliar tech.
- Ability to collaborate with application, platform, and external teams.
- Eligible to apply for and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; DoD 8570 IAT II.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a bridge between applications and the Navy platform environment.
- Innovate and solve problems across multiple knowledge domains.
- Contribute to strategic planning and secure deployments.
- Travel 4-12 times per year.
