Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Platform Engineer II to help build a federated GraphQL platform (DriveQ supergraph) that connects enterprise data sources into a unified API layer. You will design GraphQL APIs and subgraphs, evolve the supergraph with backward compatibility, and grow routing and governance capabilities across teams.

You will work on telemetry and analytics integration, contribute to distributed-system performance, and collaborate with multiple teams to onboard new data sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience (or equivalent).
• Strong backend development skills in Python.
• Experience building and consuming APIs (REST or GraphQL).
• Familiarity with AWS and container-based deployments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement GraphQL APIs and subgraphs using Apollo Federation.
• Contribute to supergraph schema design and evolution with backward compatibility.
• Develop and enhance Apollo router-based infrastructure and routing workflows.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including schema validation and governance checks.
• Support multi-tenant routing and Apollo contracts for various use cases.
• Contribute to telemetry, data capture, and integration with analytics systems.
• Troubleshoot and optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of distributed systems.
• Collaborate with cross-team stakeholders to onboard and integrate new data sources.
