Job summary

Nametag is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to own the platform foundations, including the data model, Postgres layer, and multi-region architecture. You will also own the public API surface and internal tooling, building a platform that enforces governance and data residency by design.

The role emphasizes correctness under constraint, working across backend and data while enabling internal dashboards and tooling for the company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production backend systems.
• Deep PostgreSQL experience — schema design, query optimization, and migrations on live systems with real data.
• Strong backend skills in Go, Node.js, Python, Java, or similar, plus frontend ability with React or similar tooling.
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs used by real customers, including versioning and compatibility discipline.
• Hands-on cloud experience, AWS preferred, including storage, IAM, and encryption primitives.
• Experience handling sensitive or regulated data with access controls, retention, and deletion as hard requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the data layer: Postgres schema, migrations, indexing, performance, and health.
• Design data models to enforce tenant isolation and data classification.
• Run migrations on live systems with zero downtime or data loss.
• Build data governance into the platform: retention, deletion, and minimization across derived data, replicas, caches, and backups.
• Build access control and audit logging as a byproduct of normal operation.
• Produce compliance evidence directly from systems for auditors.
• Partner with security and GRC to translate commitments into technical controls.
• Own the API surface: design, versioning, deprecation, and compatibility.
• Implement authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and idempotency.
• Operate and enable: monitor, debug across services, build internal tooling, improve reliability.
• Review code and raise the technical bar.
