Job summary

Volta is seeking Platform Engineers to build and operate large-scale GPU compute infrastructure. You will own platform components from API surfaces to confidential computing features, ensuring reliability and security across multiple regions.

The role emphasizes Kubernetes-native tooling and collaboration with product, security, and operations teams. Requires 3+ years in infrastructure/platorm systems, strong backend experience with Python/Go/Rust, and hands-on Kubernetes knowledge.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience, with a meaningful portion spent on infrastructure or platform systems.
• Strong backend or systems programming experience in a production environment. Our languages are Python, Go, and Rust; others like C++, C#, or Java are welcome.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes internals: control loop, CRDs, controllers, operators, and reconciliation logic.
• Comfortable near the infrastructure layer: Linux, networking fundamentals, distributed systems behavior.
• Experience designing, building, and versioning production-grade APIs or service interfaces with backward compatibility.
• Experience operating what you build: debugging production systems and on-call responses.
• Strong engineering fundamentals: clean code, testing, version control, code review, CI/CD.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development and orchestrating tools to amplify delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Kubernetes operators and controllers managing platform resources lifecycles.
• Collaborate with product team to turn roadmaps into platform capabilities.
• Identify operational pain points with bring-up teams and translate into scalable features.
• Incorporate security guidance into platform controls and remediate findings.
• Instrument services and define metrics for platform health and observability.
• Own production services, participate in on-call rotations, and drive post-incident improvements.
• Maintain clean interfaces and versioning for cross-team dependencies.
• Engage in code reviews, technical design discussions, and cross-team collaboration in Agile environments.
• Deep-dive on areas like control plane APIs, compute resources, storage workflows, confidential computing, or customer-facing services.
