Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is seeking a Platform Engineer on the Data Platform National Team to design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure that supports our data operations. You will enable data teams to deliver insights efficiently.

Responsibilities include building secure Azure infrastructure with Terraform, developing CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, collaboration with data engineers, and maintaining documentation. The role emphasizes DevOps practices and ongoing improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of platform engineering experience in Azure environments.
• Strong DevOps practices including automated testing, deployment, and orchestration.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Azure certifications are desirable.
• Knowledge of data engineering or big data technologies is advantageous.
• Strong communication with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure and scalable Azure infrastructure using Terraform.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and code deployment (Azure DevOps & GitHub Actions).
• Implement monitoring solutions (Datadog, Azure Log Analytics) and ensure high availability.
• Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to understand infrastructure needs and provide support.
• Keep up-to-date with DevOps best practices and drive improvements to infrastructure management.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for infrastructure configurations and procedures.

A day in the life.

As a Platform Engineer on the Data Platform National Team, you will design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure that supports our data operations. You will play a key role in enabling our data teams to deliver insights efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Development: Design, build, and maintain secure and scalable Azure infrastructure using Terraform. Ensure that the architecture supports our evolving data processing needs.
• CI/CD Implementation: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and code deployment. Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration to improve deployment speed and reliability.
• Monitoring and Maintenance: Implement monitoring solutions to track system performance and health. Proactively address and troubleshoot infrastructure issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Collaboration and Support: Work closely with data engineers and analysts to understand their infrastructure needs. Provide technical support and guidance to ensure optimal deployment and functioning of data applications and tools.
• Best Practices and Innovation: Keep up-to-date with industry best practices in DevOps and cloud infrastructure. Recommend and implement improvements to our infrastructure management processes.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for infrastructure setups, configurations, and procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, with a proven track record of deploying and managing Azure cloud environments.
• DevOps Principles: Solid understanding of DevOps practices including automated testing, deployment, and orchestration.
• Problem Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Preferred Skills
• Certifications in Azure are highly desirable.
• Knowledge of data engineering and big data technologies is advantageous.
• Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Azure services and management, particularly Azure data services
• Proficient in IaC tools, particularly Terraform.
• Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines with Azure Devops and Github Actions
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and practices with Azure Log Analytics and Datadog.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $84,000 to $126,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
