Overview

Position: Platform Software Engineer

Commitment: Full-time

Compensation: $185K–$300K per year + performance bonuses (up to 40% of base) + equity options

Role

• Build and scale platforms that support Mercor’s mission to create a billion jobs through AI-driven hiring technology.
• Own the reliability, scaling, and optimisation of Mercor’s database infrastructure (RDBMS + Document Stores).
• Advocate for and implement best practices in storage design, schema optimization, and database reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design, manage, and scale schemas for both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Optimise database performance using indexing, partitioning, and sharding strategies.
• Anticipate and solve storage challenges to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to integrate platforms with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Develop solutions in Python and Go, using Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Serve as an internal advocate for database best practices and reliability standards.
• Contribute to overall platform engineering strategies that will support rapid company growth.
