Job summary

IBM Research is seeking a Platform Engineer intern to design and build tooling that automates provisioning, configuration, and deployment of infrastructure using infrastructure as code tools. You will help create CI/CD pipelines and supporting software to enable other teams to deploy and operate infrastructure reliably.

Candidates should be pursuing a degree in CS/SE or related field, with basic Python/Go skills, cloud knowledge, and familiarity with containers and Git.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Go.
• Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP, or IBM Cloud).
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code concepts or tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Basic understanding of version control practices using Git.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.
• Basic understanding of containers (e.g., Docker) and how they're used in modern software deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build tooling and automation frameworks for infrastructure operations.
• Codify provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes using infrastructure as code tools.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline code and infrastructure changes.
• Enable other teams to deploy and operate infrastructure reliably and consistently.
