Lilly Value & Access - IT Systems Platform Architect

Become part of a company with 150 years of sustained innovation and a proud legacy of improving lives around the world through groundbreaking medicines. Come join us at Lilly USA, the company’s leading affiliate, where you’ll have the opportunity to leverage cutting‑edge technology to enhance patient access to Lilly medicines and help ensure greater affordability for those who need them.

What Will You Do

Understanding the U.S. healthcare environment and its complexities is captivating and stimulating. This team works with several Lilly Value & Access (LVA) organizations to bring operationally excellent solutions and art of the possible ideas together to transform the way we work. Eli Lilly and Company has been a global leader in pharmaceutical innovation for nearly 150 years. Our LVA organization plays a critical role in ensuring that patients have access to life‑changing medicines while optimizing revenue streams and preventing revenue leakage. We partner with healthcare payers, policymakers, and providers to develop innovative pricing, reimbursement, and access strategies that maximize value for both patients and the business.

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Architect to provide both strategic and technical leadership for a cloud‑based SaaS platform that supports key business functions, including contract management, pricing, and rebate reimbursement. This platform enables a wide range of operations, such as handling chargebacks, managing utilization‑based and policy‑driven rebates, overseeing government pricing, and supporting Medicare programs.

In this role, you will be instrumental in advancing the integration of AI and automation solutions to enhance market access, analyze government policy, and optimize contract strategies. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement robust frameworks that incorporate AI‑powered intelligence tools into the platform. This includes establishing automated processes for ingesting various contract documents—such as PDFs and formulary tables—and developing advanced analytics pipelines to generate actionable insights that strengthen payer access strategies.

You will set the technical vision to ensure solution designs support effective collaboration among technology teams, data engineers, and policy experts, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maximizing business value. Close partnership with product managers, product owners, external SaaS vendors, will be essential to continuously improving and expanding LVA solution capabilities. As IT Systems Architect, you will champion the adoption of AI‑driven features, influence vendor product development, and ensure all solutions adhere to enterprise architecture standards, cloud best practices, and regulatory requirements.

How You Will Succeed
  • Provide architecture leadership for the SaaS platform, ensuring alignment with business strategy, product roadmaps, and enterprise technology standards
  • Partner with Lilly Product Managers and Product Owners to translate business and regulatory requirements into platform enhancements
  • Collaborate with external SaaS supplier to guide platform evolution, solution design, and strategic roadmap alignment
  • Drive the evaluation and adoption of AI‑enabled and data‑driven capabilities within the SaaS platform
  • Define and govern application, integration, data, security, and infrastructure architecture
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, resiliency, performance, security, and compliance
  • Establish and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices
  • Design and oversee cloud‑native integrations with upstream and downstream enterprise systems
  • Participate in architecture reviews, risk assessments, and design governance forums
  • Provide architectural guidance throughout the solution delivery lifecycle
  • Promote continuous improvement through modernization, cloud optimization, and technical debt reduction
  • Architect and implement AI‑powered automation solutions for document ingestion and analysis, enabling automated processing of contract PDFs, formulary tables, and related documents
  • Integrate AI‑driven workflows to accelerate interpretation of formulary and contract data, supporting advanced analytics and actionable insights for payer access strategies.
Your Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in IT architecture, solution design, or technical leadership roles
  • Prior experience architecting SaaS and cloud‑based solutions, preferably on AWS
  • Experience with cloud‑native architecture patterns, including microservices, APIs, and event‑driven architectures.
  • Experience working with external technology suppliers or vendors
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F‑1 CPT, F‑1 OPT, F‑1 STEM OPT, J‑1, H‑1B, TN, O‑1, E‑3, H‑1B1, or L‑1.
Preferred Qualifications
