Job summary

Retool is seeking an Application Security Engineer in the United States (San Francisco area) to join our Security Engineering team. You’ll work hands-on in TypeScript and Python, building security tooling and automated checks to shift security left.

You will collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify systemic risks, conduct deep code reviews, and help architects design secure features at scale. This role emphasizes practical security delivery and cross‑functional impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in application security and security engineering.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment with good judgment.
• Communication that makes security understandable to engineers without being preachy.

Responsibilities

• Identify systemic security gaps and work with teams to design and ship durable solutions.
• Build security tooling and automated checks to catch issues earlier in the development lifecycle.
