Kraken is a fully remote company with a global presence, focused on crypto and blockchain technology. The Platform Accounting team supports month-end close, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting, driving accuracy and efficiency across digital assets and fiat transactions.

The Platform Accounting Analyst role partners with finance leadership to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enable scalable, compliant reporting for a growing global business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field.
• 2+ years of accounting/audit experience from the Big 4 or national firms.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and experience with SOX.

Responsibilities

• Interface daily with internal systems and our proprietary exchange platform to assist with fiat and digital asset position reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close.
• research discrepancies and communicate findings to stakeholders cross functionally
• Support financial reporting & regulatory requests with complete, accurate and timely support for areas we are responsible for
• Ensure accounting on both consolidated and stand alone financials comply with regulatory environments across the globe
• Develop reconciliation processes for greater efficiency and transparency
• Maintain and review reconciliations and support audits
• Document processes to ensure proper controls

The Team

The Finance team at Kraken is a group of specialists charged with managing the firm’s liquidity, capital and risk, and providing the overall financial controls and reporting functions for executive decision making, compliance, and audit readiness. Our work contributes directly to Kraken’s success.

The Platform Accounting team is an integral part of the Finance organization responsible for financial accounting and reporting on a variety of trading products and transactions including fiat, digital assets, futures, margin, options and other new company initiatives. In addition, the Platform Accounting team oversees Over-the-Counter (“OTC”) operations, serving Kraken’s high-networth individuals and financial institutional clients. The Platform Accounting team is a dynamic organization at the forefront of building best in-class accounting processes and infrastructure to support Kraken’s mission of widespread adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology as a whole. The team is highly motivated, collaborative, supportive and continuously strives for improvement. You will join a high performing and passionate team to work on projects that have a global reach, offering a broader perspective on finance and accounting.

We are seeking a Platform Accounting Analyst who will play a crucial part in our month end close and reporting, by supporting business processes and products from an accounting and reconciliation perspective. Areas that you will be involved in include but are not limited to digital asset reconciliations for corporate & custodial crypto, fiat reconciliations, spot trading, margin, futures, custodial staking, EARN product suite, Realized & Unrealized gain loss, and new product launches. You will work closely with your finance/accounting leaders & business partners to prepare reconciliations and related reports, and support financial and regulatory audits. There will also be ample opportunities to work on projects to help automate close processes and improve the quality of our financial statements.

This is a remote role that requires you live and work within US timezones (Pacific to Eastern).

The Opportunity

• Interface daily with internal systems and our proprietary exchange platform to assist with fiat and digital asset position reconciliations across our various banks and crypto wallets
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Promptly research and correct discrepancies while communicating findings and actions to the appropriate stakeholders cross functionally
• Support financial reporting & regulatory requests by providing complete, accurate and timely support for areas we are responsible for
• Ensure accounting on both consolidated and stand alone financials comply with various different regulatory environments and entities across the globe
• Independently manage and develop current reconciliation processes for greater efficiency and transparency, while analyzing data against business drivers to identify issues and trends
• Maintain and review daily, monthly and yearly reconciliations for financial accounting issues and reporting
• Provide support for internal and external audits
• Document processes and procedures to ensure proper controls are maintained
• Participate in ad hoc requests as assigned
• Additional duties and responsibilities as required

Skills You Should HODL

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or closely related field
• 2+ years of accounting/audit experience from the Big 4 or national accounting firms
• Knowledge of US GAAP and experience with SOX
• Collaborative, innovative, flexible, and adept at building relationships across the organization
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deliverables in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Nice to Haves

• Industry experience in crypto, financial services, fintech, broker-dealer, banking, or exchange
• Experience or knowledge of cryptocurrency
• Experience and knowledge of SQL
• Experience with high volume transactions
