Job summary

MCC in Chesapeake, VA seeks a Plate Mounter to support printing presses by mounting and preparing plates per work orders. This is a 3rd shift role (10:45pm–7:15am, Sun night–Fri morn) with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance and 401(k).

Responsibilities include preparing plates, maintaining equipment, and following standard mounting procedures; strong attention to detail and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

  • Ensure press operators are not down due to missing plates or envelopes.
  • Maintain organized, detail-oriented work on high volumes.
  • Follow established plate mounting procedures.
  • Perform operator PM and report equipment problems.
  • Pull correct tooling per Work Instructions.
  • Examine cylinders for defects before mounting.
  • Mount correct quantity of plates per listed colors and guidelines.
  • Suggest improvements to the plate mounting process.
  • Be available to work 12 hour shifts and weekends as needed.

We are currently looking for a Plate Mounter to join our team. The Plate Mounter role is responsible for the set up and support of printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations.

Responsibilities:
  • Pull envelopes and file flexographic printing plates to match work orders. File and clean plates daily.
  • Ensure press operators are not down due to not having plates or plate envelopes.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to accurately complete high volumes of work.
  • Follow and support all established standard work and plate mounting procedures related to platemounter tasks.
  • Maintain work center equipment in good working order. Perform operator preventive maintenance on equipment as outlined in plate mounting operator PM schedule. Report equipment problems immediately and fill out work orders as necessary.
  • Pull correct tooling as documented on Work Instructions.
  • Examine Cylinders prior to mounting to ensure they are defect free and have good gears and bearings.
  • Ensure the proper cylinder is used and cylinders are of the correct tooth size & correct undercut prior to use.
  • Check plates for defects prior to mounting. Inform plate making of the defect and request a new plate(s) be made.
  • Mount correct quantity of plates and number of plates based off listed colors and guidelines.
  • Seek to improve the plate mounting process through, recommending equipment enhancement, process improvements and procedure changes. Work as a team to improve and streamline the process with each department through communication with other departments and plate mounters.
  • Be available to work 12 hour shifts and weekends as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years manufacturing or fast-paced environment experience, preferably in the print industry.
  • The physical demands require standing, using hands to feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.
  • This position requires frequent walking.
  • Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
