As a Plastics Processing & Mold Technician, you will serve as a critical technical resource responsible for the installation, calibration, and optimization of blow molding and extrusion systems. You will drive operational efficiency by troubleshooting complex mechanical issues and ensuring that all tooling and auxiliary equipment perform at peak capacity to meet high-volume production demands.

About the Role

As a Plastics Processing & Mold Technician, you will serve as a critical technical resource responsible for the installation, calibration, and optimization of blow molding and extrusion systems. You will drive operational efficiency by troubleshooting complex mechanical issues and ensuring that all tooling and auxiliary equipment perform at peak capacity to meet high-volume production demands.

Responsibilities
  • Execute precise mold changeovers, including the alignment and installation of tooling and accessory devices to minimize production downtime.
  • Optimize machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, and parison programming to ensure product quality and output consistency.
  • Perform comprehensive mold maintenance, including cleaning and polishing pins, cores, and locking rings to prevent defects like flash or wall thinning.
  • Conduct routine mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance, documenting all activities and equipment status within the CMMS platform.
  • Analyze finished product specifications using precision measuring tools to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting efforts and provide mentorship to team members to elevate overall department expertise.
  • Uphold a rigorous safety culture by strictly adhering to LOTO, GMP, and PPE protocols during all maintenance and setup activities.
Qualifications
Required Skills
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on blow molding or extrusion machinery.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting and the use of industrial hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical manuals, schematics, and engineering blueprints.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as they relate to plastic processing equipment.
  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks including lifting, bending, and climbing in an industrial setting.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior experience utilizing CMMS software for maintenance scheduling and equipment record-keeping.
  • Deep knowledge of polymer material properties and their impact on molding processes.
  • Proven ability to work independently or collaboratively to resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Experience with injection molding technologies or related plastic manufacturing processes.
