Job summary

Pexco, based in Asheboro, NC, is seeking a Design Tooling Engineer to design tooling and develop processes for mono and co-extrusion profiles and tubes. You will collaborate with Manufacturing, QC, Materials and Sales to enhance quality, material usage and productivity, and lead tooling development to deliver first articles that meet customer expectations.

You will work with the VP of Engineering and cross-functional teams to manage multiple tooling projects, ensure timely samples, and support

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required.
• 3-5 years of plastic extrusion die design and process development experience preferred.
• Understanding of plastic resins and processing.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and CAD/CAM software.
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Design tooling and develop processes for mono and co-extrusion plastic profiles, tubes and secondary fabrication, independently or with other Engineers.
• Lead new tooling development projects to meet customer expectations with quality and on-time sample delivery.
• Coordinate tooling needs for new products with Die Development, technicians, Production Manager and others involved in first article samples.
• Oversee tool making in the machine shop and ensure produced tools meet design criteria and company standards.
• Act as systems analyst for the machine shop and coordinate with outside vendors.
• Plan tooling development trials and maintain engineering documentation.
