Job summary
Avantor is seeking a Plastics Design Engineer to execute hands-on design and development of plastic films, components, and systems for biopharmaceutical applications. This onsite role at the Innovation and Technology Center in Bridgewater, NJ involves collaboration with R&D, marketing, sales, and customers globally.
You will lead design and development, select materials, optimize processes, and document qualification protocols and reports.
Qualifications
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in plastics-related field is required.
- Experience in plastics engineering/manufacturing in related industries preferred.
- Strong CAD/3D modeling and materials knowledge required.
Responsibilities
- Design plastic components and injection molded parts for biopharmaceutical applications.
- Lead product development, prototyping, testing, and optimization of plastic parts.
- Select and qualify materials based on application requirements and document findings.
- Improve processes in plastics manufacturing, including molding and extrusion.
- Prepare technical docs, test plans, and qualification reports.
- Travel to customer sites up to 20% and participate in customer meetings.
