CHI Health, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Physician to expand clinical, research, and educational activities within our Department of Surgery and its Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Omaha, Nebraska.

The role includes academic activities, resident and student education, and leadership in CHI-wide delivery and research initiatives, with a strong focus on breast reconstruction and oncologic reconstruction within a large integrated health

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
  • Active license in Nebraska or eligibility to obtain
  • Strong clinical skills with programmatic development experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Academic activities aligned with the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at Creighton University School of Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Educate Creighton University surgical residents and medical students in an academic teaching environment.
  • Report to the Chair of Surgery at Creighton University and CHI Health.
  • Lead CHI-wide Plastic & Reconstructive delivery, quality, safety, and research initiatives.
  • Support Omaha's status as a leading academic health center.

Job description

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Physician at CHI Health, part of CommonSpirit Health in Omaha. You will play an integral role in expanding our clinical, research, and educational activities within our Department of Surgery and its Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Every day you will provide clinical delivery encompassing a wide breadth of reconstructive & cosmetic surgical cases in the setting of a large established referral base within the Department of Surgery, Primary Care, and growing Breast Cancer Surgery Center of Excellence, within a large integrated health care system. To be successful in this role, you will be provide expertise in clinical, academic, and educational domains in Level I Trauma, Breast Reconstruction, Body Contouring, Oncologic Reconstruction, Growing Head & Neck Program, General Face & Body Cosmetic surgery quality just to name a few. At Creighton University Medical Center and CHI Health, our Department of surgery is one of the nation’s highest quality, award-winning programs. The program is part of our integrated, multi-specialty system, working with every member in sub-specialty surgery, committed to the highest outcome of every procedure we perform. In addition, our program is further augmented by our many other resources associated with our academic institution including our institute of population health and the nation’s only resident health-care leadership program. Also, the Division of Plastic Surgery is a full participant in Surgery Centers both at the Academic Medical Center & Community Based Hospital situated in a large cash pay population. Resident activity with the department of surgery is highly engaging at our academic flagship University Medical Center and Level I Trauma Center. Candidates are expected to have a fellowship or residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

  • Working in an academic and teaching environment educating Creighton University’s surgical residents and medical students and conducting research in collaboration with scientists within Common Spirit and Creighton University School of Medicine.
  • Reporting to the Chair of Surgery at Creighton University and CHI Health
  • Leads the CHI wide Plastic & Reconstructive delivery, quality, safety, and research initiatives

Job Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or eligibility in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
  • Active or eligible license in the state of Nebraska
  • Strong clinical skills with experience in programmatic development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
