Description

The Plastic Operator will be responsible for the overall operating performance of various plastic injection molding machines within the facility. The operator will ensure that machines operate safely. The equipment includes Spin Welders, Injection Machines, and Material handling.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting; plastics industry experience preferred

Physical requirements:

Frequent exposure to noisy environments; personal protective equipment such as ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes are required. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and move between machines constantly. Able to lift/move items up to 10 pounds and reach as needed.

Duties:

• Maintain regular attendance as per Lone Star Reel standards and plant needs.
• Follow all company and department procedures and policies.
• Report emergencies and unusual situations immediately.
• Set up and operate machines based on work orders and supervisor instructions.
• Inspect products for defects and machines for malfunctions.
• Maintain a safe, clean workspace and follow safety protocols, including OSHA regulations.
• Ensure quality in production, meet production goals, and report issues promptly.
• Stack pallets correctly, verify counts, and test parts for quality before shipping.
• Report any product breaks before 1000 pounds to the Lead.
• Wrap pallets, label with shift, operator, date, and other info.
• Manage material levels for welders and injection machines, notifying material handlers when low.
• Ensure availability of supplies like crates, flanges, tubes, and perform trailer loading/unloading.
• Assist with downtime duties and other tasks as assigned by management.
