• May install guide wires on exterior surface of buildings to indicate thickness of plaster to be applied.

Summary

Plasterer performs skilled work at the journeyman level in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of plastered surfaces. Plasterers repair and maintain plastered surfaces and plaster ornaments. Duties require the ability to lay out work from building plans and involve frequent work from scaffolding.

This involves removing old plaster and ensuring that all plasterboards are level. Maintaining existing plasterwork using specialist hand tools. Correcting plasterwork. Pebble dashing or applying sand or cement to external walls. Ability to assist in making estimates of time and materials cost. Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, or from other difficult positions. Patches old plaster, removes loose plaster, cuts out cracks, and applies new plaster. Completes work orders and other related paperwork to supervisor. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.

Education

High School diploma is required.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements - Job functions requires extended walking or standing. Must be able to climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl and perform repetitive motions as needed. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift , push or pull objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Function requires visual acuity to perform job related activities such as: operating machines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a repetitive and non-repetitive nature.
