Job summary

As a Plasma Operator at Ryerson, you will set up, operate and maintain plasma-cutting equipment to meet precise dimensions, interpreting drawings and adjusting machine settings accordingly.

Responsibilities include machine setup, process monitoring, routine maintenance, and safe operation of cranes or forklifts.

Qualifications

Reading and math for inspection tasks and measurement accuracy.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills.
Physically able to lift and move materials as needed.
Enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate plasma cutting equipment to cut metal to precise dimensions and shapes.
Interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine cutting requirements.
Adjust settings like speed, gas flow, and torch height for optimal cuts.
Monitor cutting processes to ensure accuracy and quality of pieces.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot plasma-cutting equipment.
Follow safety guidelines and operate overhead crane, forklift, or sideloader as needed.
Assist with material staging and work order confirmations.
