You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

About the role:

Every day, the donors you meet will motivate you. The high-quality plasma you collect will become life-changing medicines. Here, a commitment to customer service and quality is expected. You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist should be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs and supports environmental, health, and safety (EHS) at the center.

How you will contribute
  • Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs, including responding to medical emergencies and developing standing orders with the Center Physician.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
  • Support vaccination programs such as Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health/ER is necessary, referring to EHS guidance.
  • Support investigations related to pandemic threats as an authorized Pandemic Coordinator.
What you bring to Takeda:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
  • Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities are assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

BioLife Compensation and Benefits Summary

We value equitable pay and transparency. For the Milwaukee, WI location, the U.S. hourly wage range is $23.20 - $31.90, dependent on experience, skills, education, and location. U.S. employees may be eligible for incentives, insurance, 401(k), disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, holidays, and well-being benefits, including up to 80 hours of sick leave and 120 hours of paid vacation for new hires.
