Job summary

Baxter is hiring a facility maintenance technician in the United States to perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on building systems and utilities. You will troubleshoot HVAC components, read manuals and schematics, and work with a team to ensure compliant, reliable manufacturing operations.

The role requires 3+ years of maintenance experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate hand tools and meters.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in FDA-regulated manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical-device, or healthcare environment preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and utility systems.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair RTUs, AHUs, split systems, and ventilation.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Maintain high pressure boilers, boiler controls, and chemical treatment programs for Plant Utilities equipment.
  • Replace components such as filters, belts, motors, compressors, sensors, and contactors.
  • Follow safety and GDP procedures to support reliable manufacturing operations.

Your role at Baxter:

You will be responsible for performing a high building systems and equipment operation and maintenance for all facility and utility related equipment. This includes equipment that supplies critical and emergency utilities for manufacturing areas and all the local support functions at the Drug Delivery and Penicillin buildings. This position ensures equipment is well maintained by performing on time completion of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance, monitoring of building systems and alarms to respond and address conditions before they result in an impact to plant operations

What you'll be doing:

You will work independently to complete maintenance activities while continuously building your technical knowledge and skills through training and hands-on experience. You will take a proactive approach to safety, lead by example, and follow plant and corporate procedures related to critical facility systems, equipment, GMP, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) to support reliable manufacturing operations.

Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and utility systems.

Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair systems including:

  • RTUs (Rooftop Units)
  • AHUs (Air Handling Units)
  • Split systems
  • Exhaust fans and ventilation systems

Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building support systems from a basic to advanced level.

Perform general facility repairs involving plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, hardware, doors, walls, ceilings, lighting, and related infrastructure as appropriate.

Replace components such as filters, belts, motors, compressors, sensors, and contactors.

Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and repairs.

Maintain high pressure steam and hot water boilers, controls, and associated equipment; maintain boiler and cooling tower chemical treatment program for Plant Utilities equipment.

What you'll bring:
  • *A candidate must not be allergic to Penicillin and Cephalosporin or their related products and minerals.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 3 or more years maintenance experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of multiple maintenance disciplines such as mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment problems systematically and perform hands‑on repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate common hand tools, power tools, meters, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively within a maintenance team.
Preferred Training and Experience
  • Associates degree in a technical discipline or technical degree, trade‑school training, apprenticeship.
  • Light machining skills not required but a plus.
  • Experience within an FDA regulated manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical‑device, or healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with CMMS/work‑order systems.
  • Formal HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or other applicable trade training/certifications.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a salary range of $52,800 to $72,600. The above range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
