Job summary

Corning is seeking a Training Manager to lead, design, and improve all training and workforce development programs at the AO Phoenix facility. You’ll own onboarding, offboarding, OJT, training compliance, and trainer certification, partnering with Operations, Quality, Safety, Engineering, and HR to drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in training, workforce development, manufacturing operations, or a related field.

  • Experience with SOPs, work instructions, document control systems, and training compliance requirements.
  • Strong project management, communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and training management systems.

Position Summary

The Training Manager is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all training and workforce development programs for the AO Phoenix facility. This role serves as the site owner for onboarding, offboarding, employee qualification programs, on-the-job training (OJT), training compliance, and workforce development initiatives. Working closely with Operations, Quality, Safety, Engineering, and Human Resources, the Training Manager develops and executes training strategies that support operational excellence, quality compliance, employee engagement, and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve site-wide training and development programs aligned with business, operational, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Lead plant-wide training initiatives and long-range training plans supporting workforce readiness, organizational growth, succession planning, and changing business requirements.
  • Own all training-related onboarding and offboarding processes for the facility.
  • Develop and own structured OJT programs, employee qualification standards, and trainer certification processes.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, and Safety to ensure employees are properly trained and qualified to perform assigned responsibilities.
  • Serve as site owner for training-related procedures, SOPs, work instructions, and training documentation.
  • Coordinate retraining activities resulting from process, equipment, procedural, customer, or regulatory changes.
  • Maintain training records, qualification status, compliance metrics, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and addressing training-related gaps.
  • Provide leadership and direction for site training processes, trainers, and workforce development initiatives.
Required Education & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in training, workforce development, manufacturing operations, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and managing onboarding programs, employee qualification systems, and OJT programs.
  • Experience with SOPs, work instructions, document control systems, and training compliance requirements.
  • Strong project management, communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and training management systems.
Desired Experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, machining, plating, metal finishing, or other regulated production environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience supporting internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and workforce development initiatives.

The range for this position is$106,400.00-$146,300.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
