Job summary

POET is seeking a dedicated Plant Technician to operate and maintain all processes related to the plant in Macon, Missouri. This position requires a high school diploma and experience in a production environment.

Qualifications

Job Summary & Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain all processes associated with the plant
  • Perform maintenance and basic repairs of plant equipment and document these activities
  • Operate the DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant
  • Safely perform basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Follow procedures for plant start‑up, shut‑down, cleaning and batching
  • Maintain accurate and timely logs
  • Collect and test quality‑control samples, interpret QA/QC results and make adjustments to optimize plant operations; document results and enter them into the data collection system, PI
  • Assist in removal, installation, rebuild and performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment associated with plant processes
  • Maintain plant cleanliness by following the sanitation schedule and completing assigned tasks
  • Notify management of safety, environmental, quality and production concerns, problems and opportunities
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance
  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in a production environment preferred for Plant TechnicianI; documented successful performance as a Plant TechnicianI or equivalent work experience required for Plant TechnicianII; documented proficiency in the skills listed in the Plant TechnicianIII Skills Checklist for Plant TechnicianIII
  • Working knowledge of math, reading comprehension and mechanical reasoning
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience with software systems such as Maximo preferred
  • Excellent organizational, time‑management and communication skills and ability to embrace change
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new programs
  • High level of personal integrity

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Wearing PPE such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, hazardous material suit, hearing protection, and harness
  • Working at extreme heights (≈150ft), in confined spaces and in temperatures from ‑20°F to +100°F, both indoors and outdoors
  • Dusty environments sometimes
  • Use of forklifts, power washers, pallet jacks, hoist systems, scissor lifts, JLG lifts, telehandlers, front‑end loaders, various hand tools and computers (training provided)
  • Frequent tasks: sitting in a chair in the control room while operating the plant; walking indoors and outdoors on rough, uneven or wet/slick surfaces; carrying up to 15lbs; climbing stairs or ladders; standing indoors to clean and maintain areas; reaching at arm’s length; awkward back, shoulder, wrist and hand positions; coordination and grip with up to 50lbs force; bending while standing; repetitive arm motions to wipe down and maintain work area; climbing in and out of powered industrial vehicles
  • Occasional tasks: lifting up to 50lbs (with or without assistance), carrying up to 40lbs, pushing with a force of 10lbs, pulling up to 85lbs, bending, twisting, turning, kneeling and crouching while holding light and medium weighted objects
  • Must pass a drug screen during pre‑screen and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing during employment
