Job summary

Luminant Generation Company LLC is seeking an entry-level Plant Operator to support safe, reliable operation of plant systems under supervision. You will read meters, log data, report anomalies, and assist with maintenance tasks and safety compliance.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and an eagerness to learn the physics of electrical systems. Training will cover instrument and control operations and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years related experience.
• Demonstrate standard computer-based skills.
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communication skills.
• Candidate may hold required state license if applicable.
• Familiar with physics of electrical circuits, electrical principles and hazards.
• Basic knowledge in use of electrical hand tools and metering equipment.

Responsibilities

• Reads meters and records data at intervals in logs/computers.
• Reports malfunctions or abnormal readings to supervisor promptly.
• Provides mechanical, electrical, and instrument/control support for equipment.
• Understands operational relationships of plant equipment to systems.
• Performs troubleshooting and assists in problem resolution.
• Adheres to safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout, JSA, Confined Space, PPE).
• Supports clearance activities in electronic systems.
• Gains knowledge of the full plant cycle and operation.

Job Summary

Entry level position responsible for basic operational knowledge of all plant systems and operation of the equipment within specification and environmental regulations working under the direction of experienced Plant Technicians. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

• Reads meters and records data at specified intervals in appropriate logs and computers
• Immediately reports malfunctioning equipment of abnormal meter readings/equipment performance to the senior operator or supervisor and completes the appropriate records.
• Provides mechanical, electrical, and/or instrument and control skills for maintaining mechanical equipment.
• Understands the operational relationships of mechanical/electrical equipment to plant systems.
• Performs troubleshooting, documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered during shift.
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE.
• Assists with activities of clearances in the electronic clearance system.
• Utilizes the Computer Based Maintenance system and several other computer - based software applications systems.
• Gains knowledge of the entire plant cycle and how it functions.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0-2 years related experience
• Demonstrate standard computer- based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communication skills
• If applicable, candidate will hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body of the particular state (MA, OH)
• If applicable, candidate will have completed On the Job Training and/or formal trade school and is familiar with physics of electrical circuits, electrical principles, and hazards.
• Basic knowledge in the use of electrical hand tools and metering equipment.

POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as-needed basis by Human Resources and all communication concerning the testing is sent to the candidate's email address provided during the application process.

Level of position will be determined by applicable skills/experience.
