Job summary

Knight's Companies in Summerville, SC seeks a Plant Supervisor to oversee daily plant operations, lead drivers and staff, and ensure safety and quality standards. You will report to the Plant Manager in their absence and drive continuous improvements.

The role requires 3–5 years in concrete batching or similar production, ACI Level I and DOT Batching Certifications (or ability to obtain within six months), and strong MS Office skills. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of related experience in concrete batching, plant operations, or a similar production environment.
• ACI Level I Certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• DOT Batching Certifications or ability to obtain within six months.
• Knowledge of concrete batching technology, equipment, methods, and safety.
• Willingness to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Strong leadership, motivation, and development of others.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Open the plant and manage daily operations to ensure safe, efficient production.
• Safely batch concrete and load trucks per order specifications.
• Perform routine quality checks on sand moisture, slumps, and temperatures.
• Motivate, coach, and supervise drivers and staff.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe plant environment.
• Coordinate with Shop for repairs of trucks and heavy equipment.
• Collaborate with Plant Maintenance to keep equipment operational.
• Monitor safety procedures and compliance with company policies.
• Assist in training new staff and implementing process improvements.
• Report equipment and personnel updates to the Plant Manager at shift end.
• Conduct daily truck checks and report inefficiencies.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Plant Supervisor to oversee the daily functions of our manufacturing plant. This role is vital in ensuring smooth, efficient, and high-quality plant operations while providing leadership and guidance to plant personnel in the absence of the Plant Manager. What You'll Do:

• Open the plant and manage daily operations to ensure consistent, safe, and efficient production processes.
• Safely batch concrete and load trucks according to order specifications, maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.
• Perform routine quality checks on sand moisture, slumps, and temperatures as per scheduled protocols.
• Motivate, coach, and supervise drivers and plant staff to foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe plant environment, including the fleet and work areas.
• Communicate effectively with the Shop to report issues related to plant trucks and heavy equipment, coordinating timely repairs.
• Collaborate with Plant Maintenance to ensure equipment is properly maintained and operational.
• Monitor safety procedures and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist in training new staff and implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Convey all pertinent information to the Plant Manager regarding equipment and personnel at the end of each shift.
• Perform daily truck check in with other plant personnel; report reading and/or inefficiencies to Shop or On-Call Technician

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of related experience in concrete batching, plant operations, or a similar production environment.
• Possess ACI Level I Certification or can obtain ACI Level I Certification within six months of employment.
• Possess applicable DOT Batching Certifications or can obtain DOT Batching Certifications within six months of employment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of concrete batching technology, equipment, methods, and safety is required.
• Ability to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to include motivating, developing, and inspiring others.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work in high pressure situations under tight deadlines.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift, stretch, push, pull, twist, kneel, stand, walk, sit, reach occasionally.
• Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard daily for extended periods.
• Ability to work outside as needed, with possible exposure to the extremes of hot or cold weather.
