The Head will oversee 7 tenure-line faculty, 7 lecturers, staff, and facilities, drive curriculum planning, hiring, advancement, and inclusive excellence, and interact with industry partners to shape research and education.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in crop science, plant science, horticultural science, entomology, plant pathology or a closely related field.
• Distinguished record of achievement in Plant Sciences and qualifications for a tenured Full Professor.
• Demonstrated leadership, management of students, faculty, staff, and community.
• Ability to cultivate an inclusive, nondiscriminatory learning and working environment.
• Strong record of teaching excellence, publications, and grants; fundraising capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and potentially graduate courses in Plant Sciences.
• Engage in scholarly activities including research, publishing, presenting, and grant writing.
• Mentor students and participate in University, College, and Departmental committees and service.
• Provide leadership for faculty development, workload planning, and strategic advancement.
• Oversee department budget, facilities, and resources; collaborate with industry partners.
