Job summary

Silgan Dispensing Systems is seeking an EHS Specialist to support site management in ensuring products and programs meet internal policies and safety standards. You will handle administrative tasks, regulatory reporting, and training development to promote a safe, compliant environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide admin support for EHS teams: filing, reports, and databases
• Communicate with internal/external teams for information updates
• Responsible for all state and federal reporting requirements
• Maintain EHS regulatory information management systems
• Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes
• Ensure compliance with EHS policies, procedures, and regulations
• Participate in inspections and audits to identify hazards
• Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents; file reports
• Maintain EHS records: permits, safety reports, audits
• Collect and analyze data related to EHS performance metrics
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs
• Oversee environmental health and safety programs of the facility
• Data entry and KPI interpretation for facility processes
• Regular attendance; overtime may be required
• Adhere to company safety requirements
• Assume other duties as requested

Job description

EHS Specialist works with site management, to ensure new products and programs are compliant with internal policies and procedures and promoting Environmental Health and Safety. REPORTS TO: NA Environmental, Health and Safety Manager SUPERVISES: None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide administrative assistance regarding EHS teams, including filing and tracking documents, preparing reports, and maintaining databases.
• Communicating with internal and external teams to gather information and updates.
• Responsible for all state and federal reporting requirements
• Supporting the maintenance of EHS regulatory information management systems.
• Scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with EHS policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Participate in inspections, assessments, and surveys to identify potential haz ards.
• Assist in investigating accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents, completing necessary reports.
• Maintain EHS records and files, including safety reports, permits, and audits.
• Collect and analyze data related to EHS performance metrics.
• Assist with developing and delivering EHS training programs.
• Assist in overseeing all environmental health and safety programs of the facility.
• Data entry and interpretations of various KPIs and processes of the facility.
• Regular attendance required. Mandatory overtime may be required in special circumstances.
• Adhere to company safety requirements.
• Assumes all other duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of an associate’s degree in life science, safety, environmental or a related field, or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Good analytical problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize to meet established timelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.
• Frequently required to stand and walk.
• Frequently exposed to loud noises, odors, fumes, and fluctuating temperatures.
• Occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to work alternate shifts and days of the week including weekends as needed by the business.
• Ability to travel occasionally by air or car to attend business meetings and conduct audits.
