Job summary

Silgan Closures in Champaign, IL, is seeking a Plant Quality Assurance Manager to lead the Quality Management System and Food Safety Program, ensuring compliance with SQF, HACCP, GMP, and customer specifications.

You will drive continuous improvement, lead audits, and collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, and Supply Chain to strengthen product quality and operational performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Food Science, Manufacturing, or related field.
• 5+ years of manufacturing quality experience.
• 3+ years of leadership experience.
• Experience with food safety programs, audits, compliance, and corrective actions.
• Preferred: packaging manufacturing, Lean, SPC, customer and supplier quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead the plant's Quality Management System and Food Safety Program.
• Ensure compliance with SQF, HACCP, GMP, customer specs, and regulatory requirements.
• Serve as Food Safety Team Leader and oversee food safety plans, risk assessments, and GMP programs.
• Investigate customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Lead audits with customers, suppliers, and internal teams; close audit findings.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and RCA.
• Monitor process capability, quality metrics, and performance trends via data reporting.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Procurement, and Supply Chain to improve quality.
• Develop and coach quality team; promote a culture of quality and safety.

What you will do:

• Develop and coach quality team members while promoting a culture of quality, food safety, compliance, and workplace safety

What you'll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Food Science, Manufacturing, or a related field
• 5+ years of manufacturing quality experience
• 3+ years of leadership experience
• Experience with food safety programs, audits, compliance, and corrective actions
• Preferred experience in packaging manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, SPC, customer quality, and supplier quality
