Position Summary

The Plant QC Inspector reports to the Quality Manager and is based out of our Arkansas location. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the lab equipment is calibrated, perform analysis on incoming concentrate, and act as the QA representative for off-shift hours (second and third shifts). Perform production line audits and other food quality responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities Include
  • Inspect material and products for conformance to specifications using fixed or present measuring instruments
  • Ensure materials and products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance and are not irregular or damaged
  • Receiving labels and placing them in the appropriate location
  • Collect samples from the warehouse
  • Perform calibration on all lab instrumentation inside the lab and on the production floor – including following a schedule and logging the actual calibration.
  • Collect and archive run samples into excel log and place them in “retained samples” area
  • Prepare samples for customer sales and corporate for shipping. Ensure batching group has appropriate samples for color/flavor comparisons
  • Perform analytical testing, such as Brix, acid, color and sensory tests on incoming concentrates and tankers to ensure they meet industry, Company and customer standards before accepting them
  • Assist blenders and filler operators with any analytical tests needed to support production
  • Randomly check for quality of our product on the floor to ensure product is in spec
  • Accountable for food safety, food quality and regulatory requirements for their position
  • Encouraged to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues
  • Adopt and maintain all SQF requirements for their position
  • Empowerment to work with supervision to resolve food safety and food quality issues within their scope of work
  • This role will be required to taste test product as needed, up to a couple ounces per test.
  • Receive incoming packaging, down stacking pallets and ensuring accurate inventory for said packaging.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Education And Experience
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of manufacturing lab related experience
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be detailed oriented and can multi-task
  • Must have excellent time management skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Quality Control experience
  • Experience in the food/beverage industry
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment
  • Ability to direct, coach and train others.
  • Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.

FREQUENT:

Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).

OCCASIONAL:

Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

VISION:

Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast paced production environment involving high speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

HEARING:

Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines and exhaust fans.
