Job summary

Veolia in North America seeks a Plant Manager to lead hazardous waste operations at a primary facility. This role oversees inbound, processing, and outbound workflows, ensures regulatory compliance, safety, and efficiency, and drives continuous improvement across the plant.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in environmental/hazardous waste operations, strong leadership skills, and a solid understanding of RCRA/DoT requirements. Travel and safety training are integral parts of the job.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive environmental/hazardous waste management experience in an operations capacity.
• Experience in hazardous waste industry with knowledge of RCRA and DoT regulations related to transportation and processing of waste.
• Understanding of waste profiling and tracking related to inventory acceptance and outbound shipping.
• BA/BS in environmental-related field; 40-hour HAZWOPER training completed and current.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodic audits and review of inbound containers and provide feedback to management.
• Oversee inbound 10-day management processes and waste receiving processes.
• Oversee lab operations and waste acceptance processes.
• Oversee outbound shipping processes.
• Develop and implement cost management plans; generate weekly and monthly production summaries.
• Oversee facilities management, budgets, KPI goals, and capital expense requests.
• Manage supply inventory and direct, coach, and develop staff; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Inbound

• Perform periodic audits and review of inbound containers and provides feedback to appropriate management group.

• Process waste, ensuring efficient and compliant operations.
• Maintains efficient paperwork flow to maximize production and profitability.

Outbound

• Oversee outbound shipping processes, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.

Plant Management

• Develop and implement cost management plans, ensuring efficient and compliant operations. Generates Weekly and Monthly Production summaries for review by Plant leadership.
• Oversee facilities management processes and budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.
• Implement and monitor KPI goals for operations.
• Responsible for generating and submitting Capital Expense requests.
• Maintain facilities and manage facility budgets to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards and company goals.
• Manage supply inventory, ensuring availability and compliance with operational needs.
• Direct, coach, and develop employees, ensuring they meet operational needs and compliance with company policies.
• Assigns required and recommend trainings to develop an effective and efficient staff.
• Manage assets, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
• Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction, either internally or externally
• Implement safety protocols and compliance measures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory adherence.

Performs other related duties and/or project work as required or requested.

Work Environment

• Required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment including eye protection, foot protection, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
• Willingness and ability to travel via automobile, commercial airline and other public transportation as needed 10% or less of the time.
• Must be able to pass a DEA background check when relevant.

BA or BS degree required

• High School Diploma required, B.S. in an environmental-related field preferred, or can demonstrate related equivalent work experience.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER training completed and current, or ability to obtain.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of progressive environmental/hazardous waste management experience working in an operations capacity in receiving waste or materials management.
• Experience in the hazardous waste industry and general knowledge of RCRA and Department of Transportation (DoT) regulations as it relates to the transportation and processing of waste is preferred.
• Understanding of waste profiling and tracking related to acceptance into inventory and outbound shipping of waste.

Facilities Management

• Able to Implement and communicate continual improvement of productivity standards and team member safety in all phases of the operation in accordance with financial goals.
