Job summary

CONFIDENTIAL SEARCH is seeking a Plant Process Engineer (Process & Operations) to design, commission, startup, and operate a major heavy-industrial facility in Ascension Parish. You will own operating procedures, parameters, and performance from design through steady-state operation.

You will build training materials, lead root-cause analyses, and drive safety, quality, throughput, and cost improvements as part of a technical leadership team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering as listed above.
• 6+ years of process engineering experience in heavy-industrial or continuous-process environments.
• Working knowledge of P&IDs, equipment drawings, process control narratives, and risk assessments.
• Ability to manage priorities, analyze information, document work clearly, and collaborate across teams.
• Proficiency with job-relevant technical systems and tools.

Responsibilities

• Establish operating manuals, parameters, and technical standards for assigned processes and systems.
• Develop cold-run, hot-run, performance-acceptance, and operating plans; support commissioning, startup, and ramp-up.
• Review process and equipment design packages, specs, calculations, drawings, and vendor docs for completeness and operability.
• Create operating, maintenance, inspection, startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures for the facility.
• Define equipment acceptance criteria, spare-parts needs, maintenance strategies, and standards.
• Investigate process and equipment failures, lead root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop technical training materials and qualify engineers, operators, and technicians.
• Track safety, quality, throughput, yield, reliability, cost, and schedule; lead improvement efforts.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Plant Engineer (Process & Operations) to support the safe design, construction, commissioning, startup, and reliable operation of a major heavy-industrial process facility. Working with a high degree of independence and technical leadership, you'll take assigned processes and systems from design review through commissioning, startup, and steady-state operation — owning operating procedures, parameters, and performance.

This is a rare opportunity to help bring a major new Ascension Parish facility online from the ground up and grow with it through commissioning, startup, and steady-state operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Establish operating manuals, operating parameters, and technical standards for assigned processes and systems

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Salary Range: $95,000 – $130,000+, depending on experience
• Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision; 401(k) with company match; paid time off (PTO)

Requirements:

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials, Electrical, Chemical, or a closely related engineering discipline
• 6+ years of process engineering experience in a heavy-industrial or continuous-process environment (such as metals, chemical, petrochemical, refining, minerals or gas processing, cement, or power)
• Working knowledge of P&IDs, equipment drawings, process control narratives, and risk assessments
• Proven ability to manage priorities, analyze information, document work clearly, and collaborate across teams
• Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 and job-relevant technical systems

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience in steel or metals production, or another large‑scale heavy‑industrial or process‑manufacturing environment
• Commissioning, startup, and production ramp‑up experience on greenfield or capital projects, including OEM/vendor coordination
