Job summary

Ash Grove Cement is hiring a Plant Operator. The role supports grinding, material handling, and pollution control equipment operations to ensure safe, efficient plant performance. You will monitor processes, record silo readings, and communicate issues to the leadership team for timely resolution.

We value safe work habits, reliability, and the ability to interpret diagrams. This full-time position requires willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime, with competitive benefits

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and any relevant training or certification.
• At least 1 year of experience in a relevant field.
• Strong verbal communication for instructions and issue reporting.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and diagrams.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Adherence to safety procedures and contamination controls.

Responsibilities

• Promote safe work habits to support a zero-injury culture.
• Assist with plant operations, including Vertical Roller Mill and related equipment per instructions.
• Monitor daily levels in silos and record data.
• Communicate maintenance and operational issues to leads and managers.
• Ensure compliance with production, quality, and maintenance processes.
• Operate small utility equipment on site as needed and assist with heavy equipment.
• Perform and assist with maintenance on process equipment and facilities.
• Maintain housekeeping and clean work areas to facility standards.
• Read blueprints/diagrams and troubleshoot mechanical/process issues.
• Maintain regular attendance and adapt to shift schedules.
• Respond promptly to customer needs and other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Plant Operator is knowledgeable in all facets of plant operations (grinding, material handling, pollution control equipment & processes. The Plant Operator’s ability to respond by use of effective mechanical, electrical, process or support systems skills is critical for success in this position.

Job Responsibilities

• Promote safe work habits to help create a zero-injury safety culture

Assists with plant operations, specifically Vertical Roller Mill and associated process equipment, follow written, verbal or diagram instructions

Monitors and records daily levels of ground Bottom Ash and Fly Ash in the silos

Communicate with Lead Operator, Operations Manager and other line support regarding maintenance/operational issues

Ensure compliance with all production/quality/maintenance processes and work being performed

Operates small utility mobile equipment on site when required

Operates heavy equipment where necessary

Performs and/or assists with maintenance on process equipment and facilities as directed by plant management

Ensure housekeeping and work areas are maintained properly to meet facility standards

Perform mechanical/process troubleshooting

Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams

Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility

Responds promptly to customer needs

Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade

At least 1 year of experience in a relevant field

Strong verbal communication skills for conveying instructions, reporting issues, and collaborating with coworkers and supervisors

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions

Observes safety and security procedures including using equipment and materials properly and following all safety absolutes

Capacity to deal with problems and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions

Ability and willingness to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
