Job summary

Brazos River Authority seeks a dedicated operator to safely operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants in Clute, TX. You will ensure permit compliance, regulate process controls, and optimize plant efficiency through sample analysis and data reporting.

The role involves running tests, calibrating lab equipment, and performing preventative maintenance to meet water quality standards. A Class C/D license path is required with hazmat training provided within six months.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience or equivalent combination of education.
  • Valid Texas Class C driver's license and good driving record.
  • Class D wastewater license required within six months of employment.
  • Class C wastewater license required within one year of employment.
  • Approved hazmat training required within six months of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants to ensure compliant performance.
  • Collect and analyze water/wastewater samples for monitoring and reporting.
  • Monitor plant operations; adjust valves, flows, and return rates; adjust chemical dosages as needed.
  • Run analytical tests; calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment; operate sludge press and plant areas.
  • Perform general and preventative maintenance; ensure discharge water quality; order supplies and chemicals.
  • Maintain buildings and grounds; repair mechanical equipment; undertake additional duties as assigned.

Location: Wastewater Facilities – Clute, TX

Brief Description

The purpose of this position is to safely operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants; ensure compliance with permits; regulate process controls; and maintain plant efficiency for Brazos River Authority (BRA). Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing water/wastewater samples for process monitoring and reportable analysis; monitoring plant operations; adjusting valves, flows, and return rates; adjusting chemical dosages as needed; running analytical tests; calibrating and maintaining laboratory and equipment; operating the sludge press and conventional plant areas; entering data from lab analysis; and possibly conducting local laboratory testing. Additional duties include performing general and preventative maintenance, ensuring discharged water meets quality standards, ordering supplies and chemicals, maintaining buildings and grounds, repairing mechanical equipment, and any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Minimum two years of experience or equivalent combination of education.

Compensation

Starting salary range: $24.06 to $30.67 per hour. This is a non‑exempt position.
