Job summary

Integrated Proteins, LLC in Kansas City, KS seeks an Assistant Plant Manager to support daily operations across production, maintenance, quality, food safety, inventory, safety, and workforce management to ensure safe, efficient plant performance.

This role will lead continuous improvement, develop employees, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet production schedules and customer requirements, including potential absence coverage for Plant Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years of progressive manufacturing, processing, or production leadership experience.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience leading production employees and/or supervisors.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety programs, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing/processing environment; proven success leading teams and improving operational performance.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Support the Plant Manager in providing leadership and direction for daily plant operations.
• Promote safety culture and accountability; coach and develop supervisors and production staff.
• Help establish departmental goals, performance expectations, and priorities.
• Monitor daily activities to coordinate production, maintenance, sanitation, quality, and staffing needs.
• Assist with employee performance management and policy enforcement.
• Direct production activities to meet schedules while maintaining safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Monitor performance metrics, labor utilization, equipment performance, downtime, and efficiency.
• Identify operational issues and implement timely corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.
• Conduct regular plant floor inspections and address issues as they arise.
• Champion safety and ensure compliance with OSHA, SQF, USDA, FSMA, HACCP, and customer requirements.
• Participate in safety investigations, audits, and improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production schedules and customer requirements.
• Assist in recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of plant personnel.
• Ensure staffing levels meet operational needs and foster a skilled workforce.
• Oversee equipment and facility maintenance, asset management, and capital projects.
